I know, I know, I’m late with this. The Supra revival was announced last month, after many rumors and much anticipation. The Detroit Auto Show officially showcased the 2020 Supra, with 335 growling BMW horses and a blistering zero to sixty time of 4.1 seconds.

That’s right – a BMW six-cylinder from the Z4. There will also be options for a 4 cylinder 194 HP trim. So aside from plenty of options, what other features will BMW and Toyota share for this car?

The good news is that BMW tends to ‘underestimate’ the total HP released from their engines, the B58 in particular, so fans estimate that a whole 385 horsepower could be developed from the Supra, even before tuning. But, tuners may have some difficulty switching from the famously resilient 2JZ in the Supra’s of yesteryear. This still will be the fastest Toyota to date, boasting an 115 mph top speed, but will come with an ‘authenticity’ trade-off of being built in Austria. So maybe this collaboration will have the reliability of Japan combined with the efficiency of Germany.

Toyota hopefully aims to compete with the Porsche 718 models, something they should easily be able to do if the fully loaded price of the Supra stays at only $60,000. And maybe Toyota secretly also collaborated with Honda, because there are a total of 10 fake vents on the new Supra. Why would you need vents when you only have to cool a I6? To release more noise of course!
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, TRD announces that they will be creating a even more radical version. Maybe the new BMW S58 M engine will be featured to give 500 HP to move that carbon body along.
